Paul Sartori Hospice at Home will be concluding its celebrations at a stylish 35th Anniversary Ball on 10th March 2018 at The Pavilion Withybush Haverfordwest with sincere thanks to local business support.
Toni Dorkings, Community Fundraiser commented, “This ball will be a prestigious event with canapés on arrival, a 3 course meal, live music from Symphony Sid and The Swing Kings, along with an Auction, Raffle Draw and disco by Rob Thomas Disco. This event is not to be missed! Tickets are now available! There is only a limited amount, so if you are interested please phone us on 01437 763223. We look forward to seeing you there!”
This event brings to an end this 35th year which commenced with a special service held to celebrate the life of Father Paul Sartori (the namesake of the charity), a local priest who dedicated his life to helping others and saw the need for a hospice service in Pembrokeshire. Father Paul Sartori sadly died in 1980 at the age of 39 and so a group of his close friends came together over 35 years ago; tirelessly raised funds and in 1982 they succeeded in registering the foundation as a charity.
Other activities during this year have focused on raising much needed funds (to sustain the free services) with a particular emphasis on raising funds to replace the Paul Sartori Equipment Van. “The aim of the 35th Anniversary events are to raise greater awareness of the Foundation and to raise much needed funds. Paul Sartori is grateful to local government and Health Authorities for contributing. However, it is the income generated by the people of Pembrokeshire that we are most thankful for and we hope that they will continue to support us in raising just over £2400 a day needed to provide the standard of service that is delivered today,” added Sandra Dade, Charity Manager, continuing, “fabulous support has been provided by Valero, the Templeton Beer Wine & Spirit Company, RWE Pembroke Power Station, Bearfourteen and Pink Bon Bon – all of whom have enabled us to hold this event. We are however still looking for auction prizes, so if you can help with a quality auction item, please get in touch. Thank you.”
The charity is just as passionate now about the services they deliver, as they were 35 years ago and they continue to be available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The support provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service enable people in the later stages of any life limiting illness to be cared for at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear. The range of services it now provides includes home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
