The ILS department of Pembrokeshire College helps students with additional learning needs to develop the Independent living skills that they will need for their future. Throughout March the ILS students worked extremely hard to raise money for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Charity. They grew and sold beautiful daffodils.
The Cornerstone students firstly planted the bulbs and tended to them whilst they grew. The Horizons students picked and wrapped the daffodils ready for sale, and Bridging 1 and Bridging 2 students sold the plants at a stall during the “Time to Talk” Day event which was held in the Pembrokeshire College Atrium on the 7th February 2019.
They raised an amazing £50.00 and chose to donate the money to Paul Sartori Hospice at Home. Sandy Stark, Management Registered Nurse at Paul Sartori said “We are extremely grateful of all the students’ hard work to raise vital funds for Paul Sartori, without the support of local organisations, businesses and Pembrokeshire residents we would not be able to provide the end of life care within our community.”
The Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.
The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear, if that is their wish.
