Free Hospice at Home Services in Pembrokeshire
Paul Sartori Hospice at Home provides free care and support to people living in the final stages of a life-limiting illness, helping them to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes whenever possible. Our charity has been part of the Pembrokeshire community for more than four decades, growing from a small group of determined local people into a wide-ranging Hospice at Home service supporting patients, families and carers across the county.
Established in memory of Father Paul Sartori
Our Story
The Paul Sartori Foundation was established in memory of Father Paul Sartori, a Haverfordwest-based parish priest who recognised the need for hospice care in Pembrokeshire.
Sadly, Father Paul became ill himself and died from cancer in 1980, aged just 39. Inspired by his vision, a small group of parishioners and friends came together to turn his idea into a reality and created the Foundation in his memory.
The Foundation became a registered charity in 1982. Our early Home Care Service began with a team of six carers, with funding later secured for a nurse, Carmel Gould, who was also one of the charity’s founding members.

Helping People in Pembrokeshire
From those beginnings, Paul Sartori Hospice at Home has grown considerably, but the principle at its heart remains the same: helping people in Pembrokeshire receive compassionate end-of-life care at home.
Today, we support people living with any life-limiting illness, not only cancer, through a range of services provided free of charge. We operate an open referral system and work alongside other health and care professionals across Pembrokeshire.
Our Mission
To provide sustainable services that promote good end-of-life care in Pembrokeshire.
Our aims are to:
- enable people in the final stages of life to be cared for, and to die, at home if that is their choice
- support the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients, families and carers
- work collaboratively with local providers of end-of-life care
- protect the financial sustainability of the charity so our services can remain free of charge
- maintain high standards of corporate and clinical governance
- provide education and training to help improve the quality of end-of-life care locally

Meet Our Team
Paul Sartori is powered by people. From our clinical teams providing care in people’s homes to the staff and volunteers working across our charity, everyone has a part to play in supporting our community.
Governance and Regulation
Paul Sartori Foundation is a registered charity, governed by a Board of Trustees who give their time voluntarily.
Our care services are regulated and inspected by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). Inspection reports and further information about regulated care services are available through Care Inspectorate Wales.
