The Equipment Loan Service exists to provide a free, rapid short-term loan service of equipment to patients, particularly in situations where delays through statutory services would cause unnecessary distress or risk.
Having the right equipment in place is not just about comfort. Without it, it can be much more difficult for nursing staff to care for someone safely and effectively in their own home. Getting the correct equipment for your needs is essential, and we are here to help you find what will make your loved one as comfortable and at ease as possible.
Our aim is simple. To make sure patients at end of life, and those caring for them, have access to the right equipment to get them home and comfortable without added stress or waiting.
A service built around care, dignity, and speed
The Equipment Loan Service offers:
- Fast access to equipment based on individual need
- A completely free service, funded by generous donations
- Short term loans to bridge the gap while longer term arrangements are made
- Support for patients in the palliative stages of any life-limiting illness
- Delivery of the equipment right to your door
For larger items such as hospital beds for home, rise and recline chairs, tilt and space chairs, and bath hoists, we do ask that:
- The patient meets Paul Sartori Hospice at Home criteria
- A District Nurse has been involved in assessing the equipment required
This helps ensure that every patient receives the right support safely and appropriately.

We hold a wide range of equipment, including:
- Profiling beds, often referred to as hospital beds for home
- Rise and recline chairs
- Tilt and space seating
- Bath hoists
- Smaller mobility aids and supportive equipment
We usually have a strong availability of smaller items and can sometimes be more flexible with criteria for these.
Short term support when
you need it the most
Our service is intended as a stop gap measure. Equipment is loaned for short term use, giving families breathing space while longer term provision is arranged through statutory services such as the District Nursing team.
This means you can focus on what really matters, being at home with your loved ones, without the added pressure of sourcing equipment urgently.

Our dedicated Equipment Loan Team handles deliveries, including setting up profiling beds in the home and other large mobility aids. Every interaction is handled with care and understanding.
