Paul Sartori Hospice at Home are celebrating more than £3,000 funding support from Co-op’s Local Community Fund and delighted to announce they have been chosen to benefit from the next round of Funding during 2025/2026, appealing to Co-op members to support them.
Co-op members have a say in how the Fund is shared between the causes, simply by choosing a community group close to their hearts via Co-op’s Membership App and can support Paul Sartori Hospice at Home from now until October 2026.
“We welcome this opportunity once again to appeal to Co-op members to choose us as their local Co-op cause, especially as funds for charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, with greater competition,” said Judith Williams, Grant Development Officer. Continuing “This is an opportunity for us to engage and encourage our community and Co-op members to choose us – and it doesn’t cost Co-op Members a penny. Engaging with our local Membership Activator, Anwen, has really helped us to do this.”
Paul Sartori Hospice at Home are celebrating receiving a donation of £3,044 from Co-op’s Local Community Fund during 2024/2025. “This, along with support during this current year from the Co-op, will help us to make a difference and continue to support end-of-life patients and their families in Pembrokeshire by providing the resources and equipment they need to live independently at home,” added Judith
Since Co-op’s Local Community Fund started in 2016, it has funded nearly 40,000 unique projects across supported during the period. The focus of the fund is on enabling communities to thrive, with causes working to provide access food; improve mental wellbeing; create opportunities for young people; promote community cohesion and build more sustainable futures.
David Luckin, Head of Social Value & Community Engagement, Co-op, said: “We are delighted to hear the difference that our funding for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home is making in the community. As a co-operative, we are focussed on creating value for our members and communities, and members have a say in where and how our funding is shared – enabling local causes to deliver projects that focus on the issues affecting people’s lives. We know that things are increasingly challenging for local causes, and our funding can make a real difference – helping people and communities thrive.”
Delivered via the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Equipment Loan Service, the charity will ensure that relevant resources and equipment are available when needed. The Service complements the statutory healthcare provision and often steps in if statutory services are unable to respond quickly – providing critical items at short notice. It reflects a compassionate, community-led approach to care; increases comfort and promotes independence. With support from Co-op members, the charity can continue to ensure that individuals facing the end of life receive the dignified, compassionate care they deserve in their own home.
All of the services provided by the charity are free of charge and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thanks to the generosity of local supporters.
The Paul Sartori clinical team play an important part in supporting end of life patients and their families, which also enhances the provision of other local limited services. With their flexible and rapid approach, they support the patient’s wish to be cared for in their own home. They offer a patient-centred approach to care – assessing patients, referring to other internal services and they work closely with other healthcare providers. They provide a wide range of services, including home nursing care, 24-hour support, standby service, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, physiotherapy, future care planning and training. These services enable people in the later stages of any life limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear if that is their wish.
