Paul Sartori Hospice at Home are singing for joy once again after benefitting from a generous grant of £5,604.00 from the National Lottery Community Fund to continue the Paul Sartori Community Choir. The choir was initially set up in April 2022 following a successful grant awarded by the Community Changemakers Fund delivered by South West Wales Connected (SWWCo); Great Western Railway (GWR); Transport for Wales (TFW) and 4theRegion.

The National Lottery funding will cover all costs associated with running the choir from October 2022 until October 2023, ensuring continued access to all current and future choir members.

This funding will not only help continue to improve the wellbeing of the local community – with singing having a direct benefit to individual’s mental and physical health. But it will also help those affected by the cost-of-living crisis, giving free access to an enjoyable activity.

Rehearsal sessions with the Paul Sartori Community Choir are fun, relaxed and friendly. Now 6 months on, the difference to individuals is clear to see; increasing social interactions and helping to form new friendships – many members not wanting to miss a session as it has such a feel-good factor!

Showcasing the Paul Sartori Community Choir is an important aspect, with public performances planned along with fundraising initiatives. They are keen for members not to feel pressurised by performing in public and attendance is not compulsory – if members would like to just attend rehearsals this is fine.

The choir is inclusive and welcomes all – with or without previous singing experience and there are no auditions. If you love singing, then the Paul Sartori Community Choir welcome you to join them! Joining couldn’t be easier! They get together every Thursday (except school holidays) from 6-8pm at Vision Arts, 39 Cartlett, Haverfordwest. Either turn up, or for more information email judith@paulsartori.org.

“We are all delighted to have received continuation funding for the Paul Sartori Community Choir, without which we would not have been able to continue. Singing in the choir makes such a difference and is really special! Thank you National Lottery Players for enabling us to make a difference to our community and share the joy of the choir with others,” said Judith Williams, Grant Development Officer from Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.

John Rose, Wales Director of The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “It’s great to see how funding from The National Lottery Community Fund makes so much difference to communities. The Paul Sartori Community Choir is offering positive opportunities and experiences to help their local community to thrive. Our grants are made possible thanks to National Lottery players who raise over £30 million each week for good causes throughout the UK.”
