The much-loved Kilgetty Bike It 100 cycling event is back, with exciting changes on the horizon. After years of passionate leadership, local stalwart Norman Mason is handing over the handlebars to a new team. The Paul Sartori Foundation is proud to be taking over the organisation of the event and is already pedalling full speed ahead to make this year’s ride one to remember. Norman is kindly continuing to guide the Foundation through the transition, ensuring his experience and dedication remain at the heart of the event.
In a fresh twist, the 2025 ride will now start and finish at the Carew Cheriton Control Tower at Carew Airfield, offering cyclists a scenic and inspiring launch point steeped in local history. It’s not just a new start line – it’s the start of a new era for Kilgetty Bike It!
To celebrate the event’s new venue, the Foundation is hosting a family-friendly fun day at Carew Airfield, running alongside the event and the popular Sunday market. Whether you’re a rider or a supporter, everyone’s invited to come along, soak up the atmosphere, and cheer on the cyclists as they cross the finish line.
Taking place on Sunday, 10th August 2025, the event offers three route options: 50, 75, or 100 miles through the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside. All riders must register and pay via the British Cycling website before the entry deadline of 31st July 2025. Alongside the cycling, visitors can enjoy free entry to the fascinating Carew Cheriton Control Tower Museum, delicious food from a BBQ and charity bar, and children’s entertainment throughout the day.
Importantly, participants in the cycle are encouraged, but not required, to gain sponsorship to raise vital funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation, helping support its hospice at home services across Pembrokeshire. The Foundation provides essential care to those living with life-limiting illnesses, including hands-on nursing, equipment loan, physiotherapy, bereavement support, and advance care planning — all delivered free of charge in the comfort of people’s own homes. Every mile you ride – and every pound you raise – helps to provide dignity, comfort, and support when it’s needed most.
Joanne Lutwyche, Events and Fundraising Officer for The Paul Sartori Foundation, shared her thanks:
“We are incredibly grateful to Norman for his years of hard work, dedication, and passion in building Kilgetty Bike It into the much-loved event it is today. It’s a real honour to be trusted with its future, and we’re thrilled to be taking it on as part of our newly expanded events team. We can’t wait to welcome cyclists old and new to the starting line at Carew and make 2025 the best year yet!”
