Recently Trefloyne Manor Golf Club in Tenby held the first Melgwyn Neale Memorial day. It was a very successful event with members from Trefloyne Manor, Tenby and South Pembs Golf Clubs competing. Melgwyn known as Mel was a keen golfer, he was a member of all three clubs and had previously been the Captain of Trefloyne.

They decided to arrange this event at Trefloyne this year and it is hoped that the Memorial competition will be held annually, rotating it between the three clubs. “As a family we asked for all funds to go to Paul Sartori because the support and help they provided during the last few weeks of Dad’s life was truly amazing” said Joan, Mel’s daughter.

There were individual and team prizes to be won on the day and Mel’s daughter Joan was asked to present them. Mel’s wife Diane, their other daughter Carol and their grandchildren also attended to watch the presentations. This fabulous event in honour of a local golfer was enjoyed by all. Most, if not all of the competitors knew Mel personally.

“Fundraising and donations are so valuable to Paul Sartori Hospice at Home” said Leanne Ryder, Paul Sartori Equipment Assistant. “Last month alone we delivered 83 pieces of equipment to 41 patients, and it is donations like these that help us to continue to provide our vital services.” Continued Leanne.

A special mention and thank you to everyone who helped with the event. Keith Hubbard, a close friend of Mel’s who organised and ran this first event is hoping it will be a great success year on year.
