On June 29th Arwyn Williams started his 250 mile Charity Vintage Tractor Run from Pembrokeshire to Shropshire. The launch event took place at Pembrokeshire College in Haverfordwest, where 12 tractors were in attendance. They had a handmade hat competition with a vote to see which hat Arwyn wore. Also they had a best turned out tractor competition before starting the epic journey at 9:30am. This raised a fantastic £250.00 before they even set off.
Arwyn drove “Roger” the tractor (an unrestored 1956 International B250) which only does 12mph! He had many supporters along the way, some of which joined in their tractors. The event had some great coverage on air and online with BBC Radio Cymru, S4C and Radio Pembrokeshire. Princes Gate Cool Water supplied cold water to keep the drivers hydrated too.
Arwyn had organised this event in aid of Paul Sartori Hospice at Home and The Lingen Davies Cancer Fund in Shropshire, in memory of his father in-law. He managed to raise a staggering £1700.00 for Paul Sartori. “This fantastic event bought many communities out to wish them luck on their journey.” Said Sandra Dade, Charity Manager, Paul Sartori Hospice at Home. “I am overwhelmed with the amount raised by Arwyn and the team, I wish them every success with their future events.” She continued.
