As we step into the New Year, many of us are making resolutions to better ourselves and our communities. This year, why not make your resolution truly meaningful by supporting Paul Sartori Hospice at Home? Whether you pledge to donate, fundraise, or volunteer, together, we can ensure that more families receive the compassionate end-of-life care they need in Pembrokeshire.
Joanne Lutwyche, our new Community Relationship Officer at Paul Sartori, is here to help you turn your New Year’s resolutions into fundraising opportunities. Whether planning a personal challenge, organising a community event, or just looking for creative ways to give back, Jo can provide guidance and support to make your efforts impactful.
“Starting the New Year by focusing on giving back is incredibly rewarding,” said Jo. “We’re here to support anyone who wants to fundraise for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, no matter how big or small their idea may be.”
One inspiring example of community-driven fundraising is the story of Ed and Karin Morris, who hiked the entire Pembrokeshire Coast Path in memory of Ed’s father, Peter Morris from Hayscastle Farm in Letterston, who had received support from the charity before his passing some years ago. Ed and Karin’s journey, featured on the Facebook page Hike for Paul Sartori, highlights their incredible 186-mile trek along the scenic coastal trail, which they completed in August 2024. It truly is a story of sticking to a personal resolution, as not only did the pair have to do this gruelling hike in two stages as it was interrupted by Covid, but Ed and Karin are based in Sydney, Australia, and flew halfway across the world to complete their chosen fundraising challenge! 300 km of hiking, 18 days, 7 rainstorms, 5 blisters, 4 seal sightings, 2 river crossings, and 1 broken walking stick were worth it, said Ed. Through their epic hike, they raised nearly £4,000 and a significant amount of awareness for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, showcasing how personal resolutions can make a lasting difference for families in need in Pembrokeshire, no matter how far you must travel to accomplish them. Their determination to overcome pandemics, several flights, thousands of miles, and the changeable Welsh weather is a testament to the power of individual initiative on an entire community.
If you’re looking for inspiration or need advice on how to turn your New Year’s goals into meaningful support for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, Jo is just a call or email away. Let’s make 2025 a year of kindness, community, and care. Together, we can make every resolution count.
