Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, a Pembrokeshire-based charity, has once again received generous support from The James Tudor Foundation, securing a grant of £10,000 to help fund its vital end-of-life care services. This funding will contribute specifically towards the costs of the charity’s Registered Nursing Team, who play a crucial role in delivering palliative care to patients across the county. The overall cost of providing this essential service exceeds £200,000 annually.

Paul Sartori provide an holistic approach to end-of-life care, which encompasses home nursing, complementary therapies, bereavement and counselling support, physiotherapy, future care planning, and training. The team provide thousands of hours of day and night respite care each year, ensuring that patients can receive the support they need within the comfort of their own homes.

Registered Nurses from Paul Sartori are instrumental in enhancing this patient and family support, bridging the gap in local palliative care services. Their flexible and responsive approach ensures that patients’ wishes to remain at home are respected. The nurses carry out assessments, facilitate referrals to other internal services, collaborate with healthcare providers, and offer expert advice. Additionally, they assist with symptom management, medication administration, and the operation of the charity’s 24/7 on-call service, ensuring families have access to immediate assistance during emergencies. The Nursing Team also coordinates fast-track personal care packages, helping patients return home from hospital with the necessary support in place.

“The presence of a Paul Sartori Registered Nurse at home brings immense reassurance to families during a challenging time,” said Laura Hugman, Clinical Team Manager at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home. “Our nurses uphold the highest standards of compassionate care, prioritising dignity and quality of life. Having a Registered Nurse available at night means that patients and families can receive prompt assistance without delays.”

Judith Williams, Grant Development Officer at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, expressed the charity’s gratitude: “We are incredibly thankful to The James Tudor Foundation for their continued generosity. Their support helps us maintain our nursing service, which is a lifeline for many families facing end-of-life care challenges. Our nurses make a significant impact, alleviating stress and providing much-needed comfort.”
