The West Wales Karting, 500k Challenge was held during November and featured a Leisure Night, Ladies Night, a Teachers Night, Business Night and Agriculture Night all battling for a place in the final! This high octane exciting event was held to raise vital funds for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home services and raised an amazing £12,000 for the charity.
The go-karting event was held over several nights with a podium presentation held each night and trophies presented to the top 3 teams. The winning team from each round was invited back by West Wales Karting to compete on the final night. A complementary BBQ and hot refreshments were also available for all drivers and spectators each night.
Over 62 teams competed, 300 people attended and the overall podium winner was K P Thomas team, who alone raised £500.
“The West Wales Karting 500k challenge, in association with Gravells Kia Narberth, was incredible,” said Toni Dorkings, Community Fundraiser for Paul Sartori, adding “The atmosphere every night was electric. It did get very competitive and the money raised for Paul Sartori was extraordinary. Individuals and businesses were very generous and this support will go towards delivering our free services in the county.”

Notes to Editors:
Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service:
- is particularly keen to dispel the belief that it is a ‘cancer charity’ as this deters people with other life-limiting conditions from contacting the Paul Sartori Foundation (approximately 35% have a non-cancer diagnosis)
- operates an open referral system with over 15% of referrals from patients, family and friends. The biggest referral group is District Nurses, followed by Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialists and hospital staff
- was established in memory of Father Paul Sartori, a much loved local priest, who recognised a need for hospice care, but unfortunately died of cancer at the age of 39. The Foundation was set up in his memory and provides care to people with any or no faith, and not just Catholics
- charity was registered in 1982 and celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2017
