Paul Sartori Hospice at Home welcomed a recent donation of £7,899 from the NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the Pembrokeshire agency, who nominated the local charity Paul Sartori Foundation to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual’s national £2.33 million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

The NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund has been a valued supporter of Paul Sartori for several years. In 2023, NFU Mutual’s Pembrokeshire Agency awarded a grant of over £3,200 from the same fund, enabling the charity to expand daytime respite care for dementia patients – a service that was warmly welcomed by local families and carers. This latest award builds on that commitment, ensuring more people can benefit from specialist end-of-life dementia support at home. This generous contribution will help the charity’s clinical team provide compassionate, tailored support to patients and their families, ensuring they can remain at home.

The leading rural insurer launched this fund, now in its sixth year, to help local frontline charities across the country. The Agency Giving Fund forms part of NFU Mutual’s £4m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2025, to support frontline services in rural communities.

Although Dementia was not recognised until recently as something you can die of, the Office for National Statistics states that Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease were one of the leading causes of death in Wales in April 2023. The Paul Sartori Hospice at Home clinical team is aware of the difference supporting those living with Dementia and the impact on families.

Sandra Dade, Charity Manager at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, said, “We are extremely grateful to NFU Mutual and their Pembrokeshire Agency for their continued support. Dementia is one of the fastest-growing health challenges in our community, and this latest donation will allow us to continue to make a real difference to patients and families across Pembrokeshire. NFU Mutual’s ongoing commitment has helped us trial and grow services for dementia care, and this new funding will enable us to reach even more people who need our help.”

Neil Davies, at NFU’s Mutual’s Pembrokeshire Agency, said “We’re extremely proud to have nominated Paul Sartori Foundation for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community. The purpose of NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund is to support local frontline charities that are providing essential services to people in our community, and our agency felt that Paul Sartori Foundation was again a very deserving cause to champion.”

This new support from NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund ensures the charity can continue to respond to these needs and provide vital care for some of the county’s most vulnerable people.

The Paul Sartori clinical team plays an important part in supporting end-of-life patients and their families, which also enhances the provision of other local limited services. With their flexible and rapid approach, they support the patient’s wish to be cared for in their own home. They offer a patient-centred approach to care – assessing patients, referring to other internal services, and they work closely with other healthcare providers. They provide a wide range of services, including home nursing care, 24-hour support, standby service, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, physiotherapy, future care planning, and training. These services enable people in the later stages of any life-limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain-free, and surrounded by those they hold most dear if that is their wish.
